IN THE BIG LEAGUES

Claudia Villanueva, 18 years old, is the youngest member of her co-op in TAMAULA, MEXICO. Three years ago she was trained by CHOICE Humanitarian in goat cheese production. Since then, she has greatly improved her technique and the quality of her cheese.

She named her cheese TAMAULA after her love of community. It has the flavor and quality required to enter the BIG LEAGUES of the best cheese makers in Mexico. Though thrilled, Claudia and her family were not surprised when she was invited to the Cheese and Goat Congress giving her the opportunity to show off her amazing talent.

This invitation was a huge success for Claudia. Six years ago, due to the lack of secondary schools, Claudia wasn’t able to continue her education and so joined the family work. What at first seemed like a dismal future ahead of Claudia, we at CHOICE viewed as potential. Thanks to her perseverance, hard work and willingness to learn, Claudia has positioned the family products in good restaurants and local businesses and has a very promising future in the industry.

Claudia is an excellent example of how when given opportunity, POTENTIAL can become enormous success!  Thank you for believing in the potential of all those we work with and making CHOICE a success in ending extreme poverty.
